Amazing MTB Adventure: Edale Loop to Jacob’s Ladder and Beyond

For an unforgettable mountain biking challenge in the heart of the Peak District, start your ride at Barber Booth or Edale. This route is packed with steep climbs, thrilling descents, and stunning panoramic views—perfect for seasoned riders looking for an adrenaline rush.

The Climb Begins

From the get-go, tackle a tough off-road climb that rewards you with breathtaking scenery. The incline intensifies midway, testing your endurance. Be prepared—some sections might require a brief push, and you’ll likely face similar challenges later in the ride.

Hollins Cross to Mam Tor Bypass

At Hollins Cross, take a right and ride towards the Mam Tor Bypass, where you’ll want to pause and soak in the spectacular views of Hope Valley. The rolling hills and vast landscapes make this a perfect spot to catch your breath.

Rushup Edge & Royce Clough Descent

A short descent follows before you climb again towards Rushup Edge. From here, things get more technical. The descent along Royce Clough is steep, loose, and packed with rocky sections, step-downs, and tricky terrain that will put your bike handling skills to the test.

South Head & Hayfield Drop

Navigate the scenic path around South Head, leading into an exhilarating downhill section that takes you straight into Hayfield. This descent is fast, flowing, and incredibly fun—one of the highlights of the route.

Kinder Traverse & Jacobs Ladder

Heading back towards home, ride the rugged Kinder Traverse, carefully picking your lines to avoid everything from small rocks to massive boulders. This sets you up for the grand finale: the legendary Jacobs Ladder.

This final descent is the steepest, most technical, and most demanding part of the ride. Keep your weight back, choose your lines wisely, and embrace the challenge as you make your way down this iconic trail. Once you’ve conquered Jacobs Ladder, it’s a smooth and steady ride back to Edale.

Mission Accomplished

Take a moment to appreciate what you’ve just achieved—an epic MTB ride through some of the most thrilling and scenic trails in the Peak District. Now, grab a well-earned pint or a coffee and bask in the glory of your adventure!
