There are many different motors with different torques as well as different battery sizes. In this artical I will just talk about the difference in electric hybrid bikes. If you do want more information though on motors and batteries you can read our E-Bike Guide article.

Folding Electric Bikes

Folding E-Bikes are amazing if you want an E-Bike but don’t have much space. Whether you are looking to keep them inside, take them away on holiday in a caravan or motor home or if you live on a narrow boat. These bikes are great for a variety of riding types. The Raleigh Stow-E-Way is a perfect example of this with a 250W brushless hub motor giving 40Nm of torque and a battery that can assist you up to 30 miles it is a great little bike that can be easily folded up and transported. Weighing just 20kg its one of the lighter e-bikes.

Step Through Electric Bikes

Step through hybrid bikes are a great all round bike. People sometimes describe them as Dutch style. This is mainly due to places like Holland where most people ride a bike of this style. They are easy to hop on and off with the versatility of everyone being able to ride them. In the UK they are normally referred to as a unisex frame. These easy to ride and comfortable bikes are great for anyone. Perfect if you have a caravan or a motor home to take with you to get around or do your shopping where you are staying. The Scott Active eRide is a prime example of this.

Diamond and Trapeze Electric Hybrid Bikes

The names Diamond and trapeze describe the shape of the frames. The diamond is the gents geometry and the trapeze is the ladies geometry with more of a slope in the top tube. Most manufactures that we deal with have both geometries in the offerings on hybrid bikes. Normally with the same spec and parts but just different frame styles. If you wanted you could have a his and hers bike with all the same kit so you don’t argue over who has the better bike. The Kalkhoff Endeavour 3.B bikes show this perfectly with that bikes have the same spec but having a Gents and Ladies frame variant. (Although there is a difference in the batteries on this example, but you can get them with the same size battery)
